Photograph in Edward Weston's Home

Join us at Wildcat Hill the former home of Edward Weston, for a weekend Nude Photography Workshop that will inspire you and step your photographic vision up a notch. Watch, listen and learn how to make Fine Art Nude Photographs from one of the world's premier Nude photographers, Kim Weston. Immerse yourself in this carefully instructed workshop and come away with new photographs to fill your portfolio.

Imagine yourself photographing with Edward Weston in the early 1940's in the same house under the same skylights! Photograph in The Bodie House, the original writing studio of Charis Wilson Weston, Edward's last wife. Picture yourself here, close to the water's edge and experience for yourself the light that Edward loved to photograph, here on the Central Coast of California.

Working with Nude Figure Models, What will we focus on?

On Friday evening we get together for an informal Meet and Greet. Then participants will get the opportunity to photograph the nude figure in 2 consecutive days. This allows time to get comfortable working with nude models and gives you another opportunity to photograph what you might have missed on the first day. We will focus on how to approach and photograph experienced nude figure models. Communication, composition, lighting are all important factors in getting a good photograph. Preconceived ideas; what are you photographing? What do you hope to get out of a session?

Locations, Where will we photograph?

During this nude photography workshop the class size is kept small with good model – student ratio. On the premises there will be several areas indoors and outdoors available to be photographing the nude in. Working in this way we have a maximum of time, space and privacy. If time permits one-on-one time with models may be arranged.

Experience? Digital or Film? What should I bring?

This nude photography workshop is open to all levels of experience and to film and digital cameras. Any size camera, film or digital is good for this class. Students must know how to operate their cameras. Students should bring their own film and equipment.

Participants are encouraged to bring a portfolio of their work for viewing. 5 to 7 finished prints that have been matted and or presented for easy viewing. For a complete list of what to bring please visit our photography workshop logistic page. You may also visit our workshop FAQS page.

Fireside Dinner, Guest Artist

On Saturday night, Kim and Gina invite you to stay over for a intimate fireside dinner and print showing. They invite other guest photographers to come and share their latest work.

"I really want to thank you and Kim for such an incredible experience!  I felt so lucky and honored to be in a place where you can literally feel the electric, creative energy from generations of artists.  Even better, we had world class models, Kim’s expert guidance, beautiful light, and your gracious hospitality and organization.  It was, without question, the best workshop I have ever attended.  I now understand why this was Randy’s 4th time!"
All the best, Carolyn Hampton Los Angeles
