Christa Meola is joining us again at Wildcat Hill!
I’m Christa Meola and I’m an international pro photographer based in NYC, specializing in photographing women. I believe that imagery is powerful, and that honoring our bodies, emotions, choices and impulses through photography is sublimely empowering. And profoundly sexy. My style and approach is simple, classic, emotional, joyful and genuine. I love challenges, finding solutions, keeping it simple and making it work.
Come and make some amazing photographs with 2 superb teachers! A Master of Fine Art Nude Photography, Kim Weston and a International Pro Photographer, Christa Meola.
You will learn so much from these two. The above image is one of my all time favorites!

One on One Workshop - Oceanscapes February 2013
One on One Workshop - Oceanscapes
Sometimes you just get lucky. With rain looming in the forecast we kept our fingers crossed that there would be time in-between the rainfall to get out on the coast and take some worthy photographs. Unlike working in the studio, you have to work with mother nature and her unpredictability. But even with the threat of rain and hail, the weather worked to our advantage with wonderful clouds illuminating the sky. Big waves crashed along the coast line. There was plenty of opportunities to photograph these 2 days.
During the times of rain Kim was in the darkroom teaching his darkroom techniques, developing and printing the negatives. Kim loves to complete the process. From taking the photograph, to developing the negatives, to printing the photograph. Of course there are a few more steps to completion for presentation, like mounting and spotting but that will have to wait for another tutorial.
We also had Roman Loranc here as our guest this week, so as an added bonus they got to photograph with him too!
It was fun way to spend a few beautiful rainy days on the central coast.

Wildcat Studio Nude Workshop April 5-7, 2013
Following the Weston Legacy - 1 Space Open - Email or Call soon!
This two-day nude workshop (meet and greet on Friday evening 5-7 pm) offers a special opportunity for students to explore nude photography while learning about the Weston family's historic contributions to fine art photography at Wildcat Hill.
Photograph for 2 full days
Participants will get the opportunity to photograph the nude figure in 2 consecutive days. This allows time to get comfortable working with nude models and gives you another opportunity to photograph what you might have missed on the first day.
Working with Nude Models
We will focus on how to approach and work with models. Communication, composition, lighting are all important factors in getting a good photograph. Preconceived ideas; what are you photographing? What do you hope to get out of a session?
Locations
The class size is kept small with good model - student ratio. On the premises there will be several areas indoors and outdoors available to be photographing the nude in. Working in this way we have a maximum of time, space and privacy. If time permits one-on-one time with models may be arranged.
What to bring
Participants are encouraged to bring a portfolio of their work for viewing. 5 to 7 finished prints that have been matted and or presented for easy viewing. Students should bring their own film and equipment.
Dinner on Saturday Night
Guests will enjoy a Saturday-night dinner in our home and a fireside discussion of photography.

Join Kim Weston (grandson of Edward Weston), landscape photographer Winston Boyer and Mark Comon for a creative retreat and photo workshop at the famous YL Ranch in Wyoming. Capture the stunning big skies and scenery of Wyoming and expressive figures on the ranch and in nature.
The YL Ranch is one of those places where the Wild West is more than a memory. Herds of antelope still graze in the meadows, flocks of magpies still talk to each other in the cottonwoods along Savery Creek and the three log cabins by the Main Ranch House are still open to the kind of guests who want more than just another Western vacation. The Ranch is part of the real west where essential things like breathing the fresh air, enjoying the scenery, eating a home cooked meal and creating amazing photographs are the main attractions.
Just west of the Continental Divide, in the foothills of Wyoming’s Sierra Madre Mountains, the YL Ranch combines sagebrush meadows and aspen groves with stands of cottonwood trees and vistas so beautiful they almost hurt your eyes. Our workshop will combine the stunning natural beauty of the YL Ranch in our landscape imagery.
The Ranch hands, stock and buildings offer great subjects for journalistic style shooting. The ranch setting and land form the backdrops for artistic figure photography. Every photographer will find the location and instruction informative and inspirational. Each day photographers will have the choice or subjects and locations. Each evening will feature lecture, discussion and critique.
Physical Expectations: Easy to Moderate. Outdoor clothing and hiking boots recommended.
Workshop Includes: Five days of photography, instruction and critique, lodging, meals and modeling fees.

2012 Lake Powell Photos
Workshop Photographs
We had 2 amazing workshops this year, back to back, October 2-7, October 8-13. The weather was perfect, the models were amazing, the light superb, the locations sublime and the food amazing! We all came away with such amazing photographs. There were 2 photography sessions each day and sometimes a night shoot too!
Each evening after dinner we spent time up on the deck reviewing and critiquing that days work and if there was extra time, we spent time watching entertaining photography DVD's about Edward Weston and his son Brett Weston.
There was plenty of time to relax and take a dip in the beautiful waters of Lake Powell.
Coffee was a plenty, as was the delicious meals that were cooked for everyone. Please enjoy the photographs and seriously think about joining us next year. Start planning your photography escape next October 2013! Send me an email if you want me to hold you a spot.
