Another outstanding Nude Workshop in Desert Hot Springs!
Join Kim Weston (grandson of Edward Weston) and Mark Comon for a creative retreat and photo workshop in the beautiful high desert. Capture the stunning big skies and scenery of the desert and unleash your creativity with expressive figures. Last year's photo workshop was so fun and productive we hope you can join us this year!

The Details
Our shooting locations are the Anahata Springs Resort, a serene mineral water spa in the middle of the beautiful Desert Hot Springs and Joshua Tree National Park, a fantastic desert location with jumbo rocks and other-worldly vistas. We will practice figure modeling and photography amidst the mid-century designs of this spa retreat, in and around the resort, by the pool, and then we will venture out to photograph within the natural wonders of the surrounding desert area.
Every photographer will find the location and instruction informative and inspirational. You’ll have more than enough time to shoot creatively, adjust your exposure and direct the posing. Participants will learn to work as a team in photography, camera-handling techniques, control of natural light, working with a model and how to create photos with emotional effect. Each evening will feature lecture, discussion and critique.
This is a unique workshop, if you have ever wanted to learn expressive photography and photograph figures in the “Weston” style you will love the opportunity!

We would like to share some thoughts and photographs from our new friend Jerry White, after he attended The Weston Nude Photography Workshop in May 2015. We have so many talented photographers that join us every year for our nude photography workshops. I will be sharing more with you in the next few weeks. If you have photographs from a previous workshop contact me and we will get some posted. Come and join us in October at The Weston Nude Workshop or The Desert Resort Figure Workshop and make some new photographs with us!
The June Print of the Month was also made on our 2013 visit to France. We are moving right along with our POM's this year. Already in the 6th month - half way through. May was a busy month. After returning from Barcelona we came directly home to judge our 2015 Weston Scholarship Portfolio Contest - to hanging the show in the Marjorie's Evans Gallery to giving the awards to the recipients. Then straight into our first Wildcat Studio Nude which was a blast and then hosting another workshop 2 weeks later. We met some new photographers and saw some old friends too. The workshop was amazing with enough time to produce some excellent images. They have been coming to me by email and I hope to share some soon. Our next Wildcat Studio Nude Workshop here at the house is October 23-25.
We have another really cool workshop that you may be interested in attending - Desert Resort Figure Workshop coming up October 1-6, 2015, it's in Desert Hot Springs. We are going to take over the whole resort at Anahata Hot Springs (serene mineral water spa) and make it our own private studio set, there is a pool and hot mineral pool there too. We could do some cool underwater photography amongst other fun things! In the afternoon we will go and photograph out in Joshua Tree National Park. Why don't you join us? We would love to have you. It will be 4 days of creative, collaborative fun!
We still have some openings in our workshops this year. Starting on May 15-17, 2015 - The Wildcat Studio Nude Workshop is great for beginners to the most experienced photographers. Come and photograph in one of the most historical places in the world! Edward Weston's home on Wildcat Hill in Carmel Highlands CA. Experience the rich atmosphere, the light that drew Edward to this special place he called home.Photograph with ease in groups, with experienced models in a setting that is very private and not hurried. In September we met up with Mark Comon and co-taught a 5 day nude figure workshop in Desert Hot Springs and at the Joshua Tree National Park. We rented a small hotel where we photographed in the mornings and spent the evenings out in Joshua Tree. While it was hot during our time there, we were able to keep cool by shooting only in the morning and late afternoon light. We swam in the mineral spring pools and kept ourselves hydrated.
We had great model to photographer ratios and we worked in groups throughout the week. It seemed everyone was well paired and we had a very creative week.
Each night Kim cooked us a wonderful meal. Chicken, Tri Tip, Hamburgers to name a few and he made a delicious green salad and a veggie stir fry every night too! After our meals together we critiqued 5 images from each photographer from the mornings shoot. We really enjoyed looking at the work, talking about it and seeing how we could improve on it for the next shoot. Next year we are planning a new exciting new location. We loved the Sagewater Spa but we need a bit more room so we can all be together the whole time.
